If you love authentic chai lattes as much as I do, why not try making the concentrate yourself?

it is very simple, all you need are the ingredients listed below, a pot to cook it all inn and glass bottles to store it in when the brew is finished.

Many cafes only make chai lattes from a powder mix, that is full of sugar and other preservatives that are not good for your health. Using real chai concentrate taste much better and it also contains spices and herbs that are full of antioxidants and has different healing powers.

  • 2 1/2 cups water
  • 2 tablespoons (6 tea bags) black tea like Assam ( I used less tea)
  • 3 tablespoons brown sugar ( I used app 1 spoon of sugar)
  • 1 cinnamon stick
  • 1 star anise
  • 10 cardamom pods
  • 10 whole cloves
  • 2 teaspoons ground nutmeg
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 1/4 teaspoon ground ginger
  • 1/4 teaspoon black peppercorns

Usually I never follow a recipe completely, its more a guideline for what is needed, which ingredients goes into it. I love experimenting when I cook or make things so the result can vary slightly from time to time.

Make sure you leave all the ingredients in the water over night, so you allow the flavours to set.
Strain the water into a bowl the next day, and fill up your glass bottles.
Store cold in a fridge.

Sending you love from magical winter wonderland, I´m back in Norway after a month in Australia. A month of great learning and much needed sun, however I was ready for my holiday to come to an end and I´m very exited for a new chapter in my life to evolve.

I really want to start the next month feeling completely energised and cleansed, so this holiday has certainly done the job for my energy level being increased, but the cleansing still need to be completed. To feel cleansed, I´m doing a salt water flush followed by a kitchardi detox.

I started the day today with a salt water flush. A salt water flush is a very simple cleanse of your colon and great way to detoxify your internal system.

HOW TO DO IT

make sure you have not had any food for at least 2-3 hour prior ( I prefer doing it in the moring, on a day that I have at least 3 hours before I have to leave the house, but preferable on a day you dont really have to do much.)

Boil 1 litre of water, so the water is purified. Pour the boiled water into a jar, adding two spoons of the salt, making sure you are using good quality salt – preferable himalaya salt.

Allow the water and salt mixture to cool down til a temperature that is easy to drink fast.

Add some fresh lemon to make it taste better.

I also add ground turmeric app 1 big table spoon to the mixture.

When the mixture have reached a comfortable temperature, you try to drink all of it as quick as possible. Preferable within 5 minutes.

It will taste extremly salty and you will fill a bit sick from drinking so much salt water. (At least I do)

When you have managed to finish the mixture, I personally like to make the detox more ceremonial. I put on some relaxing meditation / yoga music and allow my body to move slowly in an organic way, touching my stomach area gently. Sending good intention and love to the gut that is about to let go of toxins that no longer serve your body.

You can read more about the salt water flush
HERE

I´m making sure to eat food that is gentle to the system and easy to digest for the rest of the day, and will start the kitchardi detox the following day.

A kitchardi detox is an ancient detox from the Indian Ayurvedic system, which is a combination of basmati rice, mung beans and Ayurvedic spices; Turmeric, cumin, coriander and fennel.

This exact combination of spices and grains have been used for thousands of years as a gentle detox for the digestive system making sure you get all the nutrition your body need.

“What is kitchardi? Touted as an Ayurvedic superfood, kitchardi is a stew of mung bean, basmati rice, ghee (clarified butter) or sesame oil (vegan) and digestive spices. The mung lentil’s completeness score (how complete a food is in all of the elements needed by the human body, including vitamins, minerals, starches, fats and proteins) is 80/100 (this is super rare). Ghee or sesame oil and rice supply the 20 missing elements like fat soluble vitamins, essential fatty acids and carbohydrates. So this means that kitchardi gives you everything your body needs without any other foods, and actually eating kitchardi is probably giving you more of the elements your regular diet is missing.

In Ayurveda, mung is recognised for its detoxifying properties, while also being rejuvenative. This is really unique because most herbs and foods that detox strip down the body tissues instead of replenishing them. Kitchardi is considered a nutritive for the digestive system, meaning it helps to restore and rehabilitate digestive tissues.”

This will be the first time I will try this detox, and I´m really exited for it. The detox is recommended to do for 3 to 7 days. Since its the first time, I will start with 4 days. If this seems all right for my body, I will try to make this a regular detox routine every 2nd month.

Good morning amazing tribe, I´m hoping that the new year have started off with good things for you and that you are on a path to becoming the best version of yourself and allowing your mind body and soul enough time for healing.

I´m still in Australia soaking up some much needed vitamin D from its most natural source, doing costal walks, a lot of physical yoga practise and reading 2-3 hours everyday. The last two weeks have been a time for me to charge the batteries and prepare for a new exiting year, with many new things being added to my life when I go back home. I want to be 200% present with myself, so I can put that energy into creating amazing things and help others to become more connected and conscious, becoming a better version of them self.

I believe that we all have to be in contact with ourselves and have a loving relationship with ourselves to be able to bring love and care to the world we live in. From my past experience I´ve learned that in order to heal and help the people around, you need to be in that state of unconditional love with yourself and your life. In order to maintain this state we need to nourish our mind, body and spirit.

TAKE THE TIME TO HEAL

This is so important, taking the time to heal.
For many of us living in harsh long winter conditions, we sometimes tend to need more nourishment than those living in warmer climate. Wherever you live, whatever your life situation is, take the time and listing to what your body is telling you. What are the signs of what you need?

I need warm weather and sun, not all the time, because I love the seasons and I love the winter, but my mind, body and soul does not love the winter and the darkness for 5 months straight. So one of my healing methods during the winter is to respect that I need sun, and take action and go where the sun is. When I get there, I make sure that I stay present and that I take the time to truly send love and thanks to the sun for healing me.

When I respect my body and listen to it, and pay attention to the signals, I notice the difference straight away. I allow myself time to heal. This results in me being able to bring more good vibes out to the world and little by little make this world a more loving place.

I hope from the deepest loving place in my heart that you see that that is so important and that you, if our not already healing yourself, will join me on this path. If you are unsure of what you need; start journaling. Writing down when you notice that you are having a hard time, notice what the reasons are and slowly start making a map of what type of healing you need for different times of the year and for different situations.

I hope you are ready to start the new year working on unconditional love for yourself and your own healing journey, so you can become a part of the love revolution, healing the world.

Winter is here and we need to look after ourselves. We need to nourish and take care of ourselves more than the other seasons, as our immune system is being challenged more and need more love and care, we should take some measures to keep our energy level up and also boost our system before we start feeling a bit sick or down. If we dont boost our system before we do feel sick, then the recovery process will take longer, so my approach is to boost your system everyday even though if you feel energised and well, and think you dont need it.

My favourite routine for looking after my immune system and health, is my homemade ginger, turmeric, chilli shots. It is so simple and easy to make and it is packed with goodies for your body.

YOU NEED

Fresh ginger

Fresh turmeric &/or  grounded

Fresh chilli

Pepper

Orange or clementine peel – I add this during the winter period.

Everything is chopped into pieces, the size is not important.
Pepper can be crushed or whole peppercorns.
Fill up a pot with water.
Add the ingredients to the pot.
Making sure you wash the orange or clementine peel first before adding it to the brew.
Let it simmer for a few hours, almost at boiling point.
If you have the time, put a lid on and allow it to cool down for a few hours or even overnight.

Then strain the brew into bottles. You can put all the little pieces into a blender / juicer and add the remaining liquid you get from that into the bottles you have filled up.

Store the brew in bottles in a cool place, it keeps for several months as long as its stored cold. However most likely you´ll finish it in a month or so because its so yummy.

We are moving into the darkest time of year here in the northern hemisphere, days are becoming shorter and the dark is sneaking up on us. Most of us will feel less motivated and need more sleep and rest than usual. all of us who have lived through these long winters know that the winter depression can be very difficult and hard to tackle. I experienced my absolute worst winter last year, therefore this season I´m preparing for it so I´m very mindful of how I´m approaching this season, making sure it will be much better at looking after myself and listen to my body.

From my own experience I´m very certain that most people can avoid being very negatively influenced by the winter and the darkness, the problem is that most of us are not listing to our bodies. We keep pushing ourselves, and keep working just as hard and just as much so we neglect that our bodies actually need more attention during this season.

MY MINDFUL TIPS TO HAVE A BETTER WINTER SEASON

Sleep more
Allow yourself to sleep more if you feel that you actually need it.

Take vitamins & super foods
Specially vitamin D, making sure you start before its midwinter so it starts working before its to late. I also take spirulina, maca and one pill that has the things that I might not get enough off on a vegan diet, B12 and iodine. I also make my own healthy turmeric, chilli and ginger brew and take at least one shot every day.

Sauna & fjord swimming
If I knew about this last winter, omg it would have made such a difference to my health. Try to go to the sauna every week or at least twice a month. Using the fjord sauna here in Oslo is an amazing relaxing and warming experience, and swimming into the ice cold fjord makes the whole experience thrilling, not to forget how great it is for your health to sauna and ice bath.

Spend time with people who gives you positive energy
Spending our time wisely is something I´ve really worked on this past year. Truly listening to myself and what I feel after being around different people. Honestly, just be selfish and start spending time with the people who actually gives you the glow and positive energy you need. Specially during the winter months, but also the rest of the year. This life is so short waisting our time with people who dont give you what you need.

Eat healthy warming foods
Eating warming foods during winter is really important for your health and your body. Making sure you are giving your body a lot of nutrition and specially eating warming foods, like stews, soups and curries. For many of us our digestive system is slower in the winter and its harder to digest food, specially raw uncooked food.

Work less and spend more time outside
To most people this is a hard one, because we are actually expected to work just as much during the winter months, even though we are getting way less energy, because the sun is one of the most important sources to energy. I personally choose to work less, earn less but feel so much greater, be happier and find more peace in my life. This way I can be outside in the middle of the day some days, and actually get some natural light and on good days sunlight. I do really recommend this lifestyle, but it needs to be your choice.

Go away to a sunny place
Lets be honest with ourselves, 5 months of winter is just a bit to long, so make sure you manage to go away, at least for two weeks, soak some sun, relax and recharge your batteries.
Me personally choose to work less, earn a bit less money but go travel for longer periods at a time, because you dont need to go on an expensive holiday.

A friendly and loving reminder that you should allow yourself time off from everything that you feel becomes a burden or stressful. Everyday life for many is very stressful unfortunately, which often leeds to exhaustion and even breakdowns. Life is to short to live without truly living. Become more present and stop worrying about everything you think you have to achieve and complete. Trust in the universe and trust that the more positive energy you put out into the world, the more you will receive in return.

Take time off. Rest. Go away for a few days more often. See nature. Be without technology for a few days. Breath. Smile. Laugh. Nurture your self and your soul. Listen to what your body is telling you. Stop trying to be so damn great all the time.

Are you comfortable in your own skin? Are you comfortable with yourself when you are naked?

We are all born naked, and we all play naked on the beach as children. Then we reach a certain age and our parents no longer feel comfortable with us running around naked. As young adults we are taught that females have to cover up their breasts and that female nipples is associated with something sexual. We are also starting to question the shape and size of our breasts, and our waistline, bum, six-packs and toned visible muscles. Our bodies become so important that we become in need of constant confirmation from others, specially the opposite sex.

We all find flaws with our own bodies, we compare our features to others, it is almost as being happy with your body is shameful, because society is constantly chasing for something better. Body shaming is a thing that has to stop, we need to reconnect with our bodies and start appreciating all different sizes and shapes. Stop sexualising female breasts, the are beautiful indeed, but so are many other body parts too, that we are showing off to the world with no problem. If I dont wanna wear a bra I should not wear one. If I dont wanna wear a bikini top to the beach, why should I? It is my body, my breast. We all have them, shivas and shaktis.

Being happy with our bodies is not about having to have the perfect body, because there is no such thing as perfect. It is about embracing what you have and are. Become comfortable in your own skin, completely naked. Touch and sense all the curves and lines of your body, it is perfect as it is. As long as you are looking after your physical and emotional health, what matter the most is a healthy internal body and mind, a glowing inside will reflect on your external body and make your outside shine.

“Growing up I went through body shaming from other people, and also my own judgement towards myself. I was to skinny, which I would always receive comments on from others, which made me believe it myself. I was to skinny. I would try to eat unhealthy to gain weight. I loved running and exercise, but I would barely allow myself, as I was so worried I would look even more skinny & lose weight. I would wear a bra that was to big with paddings, so it actually looked like I had some curves. I got so used to people thinking that I had eating disorders, it almost did not bother me anymore.

Then I became an adult. Suddenly I started getting all these compliments on how amazing my body look. How lucky I am to be so tiny. How fit I look, perfect toned muscles. Telling me how lucky I am.
How lucky….

Suddenly this little girl went from being imperfect to perfect in the eyes of society?”

I´m not perfect, and I dont want to be perfect. But I do feel perfect just as I am. Ive come to love my body, just as it is. It deserves to be appreciated just as it is. Your body deserves to be appreciated by you, just as it is.  Embrace every inch of it, be one with your naked body & start accepting.
We are all born naked. We all have bodies of flesh, bones, muscles, fat, hair and curves. Our bodies is a very important part of the human experience. Embrace your bodily experience. Become one with it and if you, just like I do feel; oppressed by society? Start going against the stream, yes it will put you in an uncomfortable situation, but if nobody is willing to fight for equality and challenge the rules of society, nothing will change.

Humans spend most of their time on their feet, laying down or seated, we usually do not spend much time upside down. I believe we all can benefit from turning our world upside down and reverse our blood flow & our point of view. Doing headstands or shoulder-stands are a great way to practise reversing our perspective and  it has many great benefits to your body & soul.

I do not recommend you to jump straight into headstands or shoulder-stands if you have no previous experience with it, practise this postures with long time yogis or qualified yoga teacher, someone who can guide you, then progressing to using the wall before you move onto full versions. Doing these postures wrong can cause injuries, so make sure you respect your own body by practising safe.

A few benefits of headstand

Reversing the blood flow, improving blood flow to head, eyes and scalp.

Relief stress

Improve your digestive system

Improve core, arm and shoulder strength.

Help remove toxics from your blood system.
