This week have passed by really quick, it is already Thursday and I have a long weekend a head, with a busy agenda. I´m very focused on meditation, exercise and yoga philosophy these days. After thinking about extending my yoga knowledge for a very long time I have finally made a decision to actually do something about it. I have booked a yoga teacher training retreat in Bali, so I´n one month I´m on my way to a small island outside of Bali. There I will be staying for a month completing level 1 200 hours, becoming a qualified yoga teacher. I still cant believe I´m finally doing this, yoga is something I´ve practised for a long time, but it is not until lately that I have discovered the power of yoga and meditation. Going through a very though time the last six months, the yoga practise have really helped me find my path & pull me through.

 

I´m first of all doing the yoga teacher training for my own benefit, developing myself and connecting with my body on a deeper and extended level. Hopefully it will be a very powerful and eyeopening experience that I can take with me and share with others.

My whole life I´ve had a body weight that according to the statistics are underweight. I often felt underweight and ugly-skinny when I was young. No curves and visible bones made me feel uncomfortable in my own body, I didn´t want to exercise to much, scared of becoming even skinnier and look even less feminine than what I already did. Thankfully with age, I did gain a little bit I learnt that exercise is ok even though you are skinny and I finally grew some feminine curves as well. I´m still very skinny, and the combination of a really high metabolism and my healthy eating is not making it easier to gain weight. I´m overall very happy with my body structure today, there is still people who might comment on it, or think “that girl got some eating issues”, which I do not have. I LOVE FOOD, but I love mostly healthy food, I am trying to gain some more muscle mass and weight, as I currently feel I could need a few more kilos, but it is not an easy challenge.

We all got our issues.

 

We all have different body issues, different weights, proportions & shapes, which we deal with in different ways. Remember the most important is that you treat your body in a healthy way & do not measure yourself after how others look.

I had a really nice birthday celebration last night, a few friends yummy food & wine in a small low key bar/restaurant. It was just how I like it. A few days a go I was in need of some inspiration and motivation, often feeling a bit different than the norm I do need to boost my system with alternative thinking from likeminded people. Searching for some input I came a cross two documentary´s on Netflix, both really hit me they way I had hoped, sparking my system.

YES CHOCOLATE CAN ABSOLUTELEY BE VEGAN & DELICIOUS 

if there is one thing I´m pretty sick of hearing is that ” ah pore you, you cant eat chocolate anymore!?” First of all, the main ingredients in chocolate comes from the cocoa bean, which is a plant. Yes a plant. So making chocolate without diary products is super easy. Second of all, I can eat any chocolate I please, but I choose not too. It is not because I can´t. Being vegan is thankfully becoming easier and cheaper, as the demand is rising, so finding amazing delicious chocolate is not an issue anymore.


My two favourite brands that I´ve tried so far, is the brand called Loving Earth, which is so creamy and delicious not to forget the packaging is just so pretty. Second is a Norwegian brand called Berits, which have a coconut one and raspberry one, both so tasty.

The best part, you dont even have to be vegan to love these chocolates

Breathe in……. and out. Through your nostrils.
Doing yoga is not only good for your body strength and flexibility but it is also strengthening your mind and soul. I started a yoga challenge right after the break up, which have really helped me find new strength and move forward during very difficult times. Doing yoga everyday, following the program makes the exercise much easier to complete, because you feel like you owe it to the yoga teacher to show up on your math every day. It might sound strange, as I´m “just” following a 30 day challenge via youtube, so she cant actually see me or know if I´m doing my practise. But somehow yoga practise really makes you feel a real connection and commitment, especially when you start noticing the difference in your body and mind.

Allow yourself to be absence when you really need it, just listen to the signals your mind and body are trying to give, if you dont you are bound to hit a brick wall at one point. I do feel better when I get to be creative and work on my blog, so even though I take breaks when I have to, I do feel the craving for being back at it, very quickly.


February is already in full bloom, so time to share another monthly eco tip with you lovely people. I started brusing with bamboo toothbrush a while ago, they have even started selling them in the normal grocery store here in Norway, which is great. They do not cost a fortune, they are much much better for the environment and I personally think it looks nicer than a ugly plastic toothbrush. I have also become much more aware of only bying products not tested on animals or with any animal by-products in it, as I have made a transition to be 10% vegan. The fairy floss tooth powder from Lush Cosmetics is also on my eco tip for February, together they make a hell of a team.

If you, just like me, want to eat delicious food, still be ethical, healthy & satisfied to the max?!

The you have to visit Oslo Raw, either if you live in Oslo or just passing by. Oslo Raw are one of the few spots that have 100% plant based & natural food, drinks. cakes and other amazing sweets here in Oslo. The cafe is very small and cosy, so it can be a bit difficult to get a seat, but duringer warmer days you can sit outside, which helps a lot.

 

Lovely staff, fair prices, plant-based, healthy, delicious as it gets.  

 

Oslo is slowly catching on the plant-based trend, so cafes and restaurants are finally starting to offer a better variety of  plant-based foods and I`m sure there will be more all plant-based” cafes or restaurants on the market the next coming years.

Happy weekend to everyone

 

Autumn & winter months are defiantly perfect for creating many different soups and stews, creating soups are easy, quick and often very healthy. The only “problem” is that you often will not get enough protein if you create vegetarian soups, our at least that is many peoples way of thinking.

A easy solution to this problem is simply adding plant protein to the soups. I almost always blend my soups, to create smooth and silky thick soups, so adding plant protein is amazingly easy and does not change the taste of the soup at all. I simply blend either beans, chick peas or lentils into the soup.

Protein problem solved.


A healthy flavourful tomato soup is a perfect autumn soup to add plant protein into. I also made a simple quinoa salad on the side to create a more complete meal.

Hi Lovelies

I’m currently travelling a bit of South East Asia, Cambodia, Thailand and maybe Vietnam, all three amazing countries with loads of culture and beautiful things to see and do. All though we are out and about a lot, we also spend some hours on the beach, swimming, reading, usual beach activities. Though it is rain season, and a bit more cloudy, you still get UV damage and sunburnt if you don’t watch out.

Sunscreen can be a saviour but also a killer, unfortunately almost all the big brands that produce sunscreen today are full of nasty chemicals, that can actually cause more damage to your health and skin, than by not using protection. I think this is such a shame, as the the whole point of protection yourself is then gone..

Thankfully there are some safer brands out there, you might have to pay a little bit more, but at least your skin is safe, which is what should come first.

The brands that I choose to use are also not tested on animals which is one of the first things I look for for when buying products.

Another part of my sun safe routine is taking extra care of my hair and face, using a good quality hair oil everyday and a good quality face oil.

Cosmetics and beauty care is something I usually do not spend much money on, I like using my homemade shampoo, face and body scrub and not forget; coconut oil for everything. However if I do use products it has to be not tested on animals and contain as little unnatural ingredients as possible, as I prefer treating my body to only high quality products and food. As natural as possible is always key in my decisions and purchases.

A few weeks ago Jens surprised me with a little gift from Lush cosmetics, which is a really great cosmetics brand. I got a beautiful honey soap and a oat body lotion, which are both great for sensitive and dry skin. As this is something I usually don´t spend money on, it was a really nice little surprise, especially now during all my uni stress. It feels like I haven´t taken good enough care of myself, so this little gift was a great reminder of doing so.
