HAPPY SUNDAY EVERYONE

Oslo is sunny today, and the snow is melting, which is making me extremely happy. I´m hoping by the time I get back from Bali in May, it will be full bloom and summer vibes, until then let the spring blossom, we are in need of vitamin D and sipping rose in outside feeling the warmth. It is a nice feeling being able to wear less layers again.

OUTFIT

Flair pants & knit is from Norwegian brands, Arnie Says & Iben.
Jacket is my mum´s from the early 80s.
Shoes & handbag are both secondhand

No matter your age, occupation, living situation or surroundings it is never to late to make changes to your life. It is never to late to make new big decision that might change your course of life completely or take you in a slightly different direction. For a little while I´ve been feeling stuck and did not quite see a solution to it all. I was telling myself it will get better, you are just going through a difficult time, a new phase in life. Truth be told, it did not get better until I decided I needed to change the things that are not making me happy or taking me to the place I want to be. A little while a go I  did belive that the road I was on, were the right one for me, at least at this current time in life. The last six months have proven the opposite, it has been an extremely bumpy road, that has turned out to feel strange and unlikable. After debating for some time, I finally got myself to take action. If there is one thing that I have learnt from difficult times, it will not get better unless you take action and decide to make changes. We all need to go through different stages of our life´s and each decision we make leads us onto a new road. Sometimes it turnes out to be a great road, other times not so much. Learn to listen to your instincts, learn from the decisions  that turn out to be negative, because they are just as valuable as the positive decisions.

I know for sure this will not be the last time my life will change direction and it is not the last time I will feel like I´m on the wrong road. I´m taking this experience with me, choosing to see it in a positive way as it has thought me that my life is to valuable to waist on being stuck on a road that I dont find to like anymore.

This week have passed by really quick, it is already Thursday and I have a long weekend a head, with a busy agenda. I´m very focused on meditation, exercise and yoga philosophy these days. After thinking about extending my yoga knowledge for a very long time I have finally made a decision to actually do something about it. I have booked a yoga teacher training retreat in Bali, so I´n one month I´m on my way to a small island outside of Bali. There I will be staying for a month completing level 1 200 hours, becoming a qualified yoga teacher. I still cant believe I´m finally doing this, yoga is something I´ve practised for a long time, but it is not until lately that I have discovered the power of yoga and meditation. Going through a very though time the last six months, the yoga practise have really helped me find my path & pull me through.

I´m first of all doing the yoga teacher training for my own benefit, developing myself and connecting with my body on a deeper and extended level. Hopefully it will be a very powerful and eyeopening experience that I can take with me and share with others.

A new week has just begun, maybe you have a heavy start to it, or maybe you are easing into it like I´m lucky enough to do. I´ve come to really enjoy Mondays, cause I most of the time start work around 1pm, so I have really fresh productive Monday mornings, with tea in bed, yoga, a little bit of house organisation and anything else that I should have done before heading to work.

I´m starting the day off with both music and podcast and this is my top 4 songs right now…

ODESZA – Kusangi

MOGLI – Wanderer

When my heart shuts down I don’t speak Cause behind the muffled beating I am weak The earth is ripped with cracks Beneath my feet One word more they become crater’s

Oh the wind in my hair It sings my song To be a Wanderer and to go home Oh the wind in my hair It sings my song To be a Wanderer To be a Wanderer and to go home

STU LARSEN – Far away from here

—————————————————————-

LORD HURON – The night we met

Hope your Monday turn out to be a great one, if not try making it great. Start with positive vibes & a positive mind, it will get you a long way.

I´m turning 26 tomorrow, me personally do not think turning 26 is that much big of a deal, A year older, with a little more baggage, life experience slightly changed goals with a plan that this year will be a much better year than last year. This year becoming better than last year, does not really have anything to do with my age, but I guess I can start working on it even more from tomorrow on? Hoping 26 will be a more enjoyable and purposeful year, discovering more of who I am, what I want & places I wanna go see. I´m a restless soul, wanting to see and live to many places, help more people & animals and find my place in this fucked up world.

I´m still in search of the answer to life, I dont think 26 will be the year I find the answer, though I might get a step closer.

“In oneself lies the whole world
and if you know how to look and learn,
the door is there and the key in your hand.
Nobody on earth can give you either
the key or the door to open.
Except yourself”

Yesterday we had a little family gathering for my mothers birthday and for my birthday, which is next week. I was in charge of the food & dessert, I decided for baked vegetable risotto and carrot cake. I´m not a big cake person, but if there is one cake I do love, it is carrot cake. I found a vegan recipe on a Norwegian veggie food blog Vegetarbloggen.no

She is so inspiring when it comes to finding new ideas for food & desserts, with weekly updates. The carrot cake was an success, it tasted amazing. I followed the recipe, just changing the normal sugar with brown sugar, as I think it has a nicer flavour and a tiny bit healthier. I try to avoid sugar as much as possible,  but it is ok to make exceptions sometimes.

YES CHOCOLATE CAN ABSOLUTELEY BE VEGAN & DELICIOUS

if there is one thing I´m pretty sick of hearing is that ” ah pore you, you cant eat chocolate anymore!?” First of all, the main ingredients in chocolate comes from the cocoa bean, which is a plant. Yes a plant. So making chocolate without diary products is super easy. Second of all, I can eat any chocolate I please, but I choose not too. It is not because I can´t. Being vegan is thankfully becoming easier and cheaper, as the demand is rising, so finding amazing delicious chocolate is not an issue anymore.

My two favourite brands that I´ve tried so far, is the brand called Loving Earth, which is so creamy and delicious not to forget the packaging is just so pretty. Second is a Norwegian brand called Berits, which have a coconut one and raspberry one, both so tasty.

The best part, you dont even have to be vegan to love these chocolates

Breathe in……. and out. Through your nostrils.
Doing yoga is not only good for your body strength and flexibility but it is also strengthening your mind and soul. I started a yoga challenge right after the break up, which have really helped me find new strength and move forward during very difficult times. Doing yoga everyday, following the program makes the exercise much easier to complete, because you feel like you owe it to the yoga teacher to show up on your math every day. It might sound strange, as I´m “just” following a 30 day challenge via youtube, so she cant actually see me or know if I´m doing my practise. But somehow yoga practise really makes you feel a real connection and commitment, especially when you start noticing the difference in your body and mind.

I´m pretty sure I´ve become really bad at dealing with winters, but one thing I do LOVE about real winters are going into the mountains, driving through the most amazing landscape. It is fairy-tale like, magical and mysterious. This weekend a group of my friends and I spent our time drinking to many glasses of wine, watching the snow playing up all crazy around us, doing a very short cross country trip, just to feel the cold wind on or cheeks. Followed by more wine, burning wood and slow-mood at my friends cabin.

If you have´t yet heard of or tried beeswax wraps you should set that as a goal for this coming week. Locate the nearest / easiest place to purchase them and start wrapping your food leftovers or sandwich.
Beeswax wraps are made of cotton / linen cloth covered in beeswax which makes the cloth wrap-able. It is much much better than using single use plastic or foil pluss it looks way nicer, especially bringing your sandwich to work in a cute little wrapping cloth.
