The raw detox I did last week was a really good week, filled with only fresh, healthy and delicious food, having a healthy lifestyle, without almost any dairy (milk products), meet or fish is really easy, as long as you are willing to spend some time cooking, adapt your routines and mindset and look for great food ideas to keep inspired to make meals free from meat. After the raw detox week, I´ve decided to do at least one raw salad for dinner every week, I´ve also made the super healthy berry smoothie bowl for breakfast almost every day.

– Recipe for the smoothie bowl –

2 spoons of oats, a cup of berries, 1/2 avocado 1/2 banana 1 Tsp cocoa powder, 1 tsp maca 1/2 cup of water, nuts, berries & cinnamon for topping.

The perfect everyday boot that is sustainable, comfortable, good price and water proof. I was actually looking for a new pair of rain boots, for city wear. As Sydney over all has good weather, we get occasional rain and storms. So having a pair of city rain boots have been a need since my old pair died on me at a gig last year.

My new boots are of the brand Melissa, which is a sustainable all rubber shoe brand. Only using recycled rubber, no animals or humans need to suffer. The shoes are amazing and so comfortable.

I´m a believer in clean living, especially when it comes to what we put in and on our body. The outside of our bodies are just as important as the inside, we should therefore always keep that in mind when buying health and beauty products. I rarely buy any beauty or health products, cause I just really dont like spending time in front of the mirror, I prefer as natural as possible and doing it myself. I think the more natural the better, and if you combine healthy food and “healthy” skincare you have already come a long way. So I wanna share my simple recipe for a shower body scrub; It is cheap, it is natural and 100% real and no extra packing when you do it yourself. It is made up of three ingredients, ingredients that I always have in the house. The scrub is for all over the body, even the face – as long as you are gentle while scrubbing your face.

Benefits:

Coconut oil is really moisturizing for your skin, gives glow and no scary additives. Himalaya salt is full of minerals and it detoxifies your skin. Matcha is full of antioxidants and it is anti-ageing.

– You will only need 1-2 teaspoons of the matcha –

– You want the paste to be dry, so make sure you go slow when adding the coconut oil –

I love my luxury goods, simply because of great quality. Being a “poor” student, who constantly try to do the best for environment, animals and the human resources involved; I´m always questioning my choices and what I stand for. I´m far away from perfect, but I have really worked hard to become better, and I do everyday. I have therefore decided to not buy any new expensive leather bags anymore. From now on I buy new sustainable or  I buy second hand. A few weeks ago, doing some vintage/second hand browsing, I came over this beautiful brown leather hand bag, similar to the LV – NOE, but it was a Celine. Great quality, great price & second hand, I got it.

Buying second hand is for many a  negative experience, as you dont get a new product, you dont get the smell of a new product or people often assume that second hand is not of good quality or as good as new. All these aspects should be replaced with ALL the great values of second hand. There is a never ending list of them; Unique products, great quality – if it is “old second hand”, ethical and better for the environment and often money saving to mention a few.

Next time you doubt the second hand shopping, change your attitude.

The last three weeks were holiday mode, which makes it harder to live as sustainable as I would do at home. The places we stayed at did not have recycling or you are in a country where the water is not safe, and you are bound to buy bottle water. I always bring my own recycled glass bottle everywhere I go. Then you can waist less plastic buy purchasing larger water bottles, and simply refill the smaller one you would carry around. A second great thing about glass (or other material than plastic) is that there is no dangerous chemical that are released into the water if the bottle would heat up. Carrying a water bottle also keep you hydrated and healthy.

– Better for you, better for the environment –

This dress used to be a maxi dress with sleeves and a bit of a oversized look, the style and the colour combined came of slightly old-lady-like.. even though I did love it, it was time for some changes. As I´m a believer in reduce – reuse – recycle, I´ve decided to reuse it, and I made it into a short flowing summer dress, the top part (I will show another time) has become a top with open back.

Sustainable living and making ethical choices are two very important matters to me and it should be to everyone. Hopefully my weekly ideas and lifestyle choices can inspire others to become more ethical and sustainable on their life journey.

My good friend made me these beautiful candles, from empty oyster shells, so instead of just throwing the shells out she made candles, they actually serves a new purpose and when burnt down, we can make new candles. This idea is not a very ethical or sustainable idea, but it is a great example of how we should she an object or “rubbish” with new eyes, and free the potential.
