My outfit post for this week did not go as planned, it just started raining pretty heavy, we did not have time to wait for it to stop, so I only got some detail shots. Well Well, there are more important things in life than outfit posts. Yesterday was catch-up drinks with my Norwegian girlfriends!

We had a few drinks last night and it feels too great to have a few hours of Norwegian talk once in a while. I do have to say I love speaking English, and to me English just flows better than Norwegian does, but still. It does help for the homesickness and being surrounded by someone more like you, is something you will appreciate when you dont have it as often.

Hope you are enjoying your Friday!

Essential oils are pure magic, if you have not discovered it yet, now is the time.  I got interested in essential oils, as one of my co-workers was talking about it and praising it. I always look for alternative products, staying off the mass produced chemical infused brands. They might say on the packaging it is great for you, but over all there is always a chemical involved. Essential oils are natural oils from plants. Different oils have different benefits and fragrance, you can use it for everything.

Put it on your body as a natural perfume, or your hair. Blend it into a massage oil, use it for a body scrub, face glow, air freshener, sun burnt skin, anything you can think off! As said every oil has different benefits, so do your research and find out what benefits you are after, and then make the decision for which oils you prefer, or just get them all!

My favourite right now is lavender. Lavender is perfect for stressful periods, find calm during yoga or meditation practise + the smell is amazing! It can be used with your facial oil/cream to reduce wrinkles, or mixed with your body oil/cream if you struggle with dry or irritated skin.

Happy Tuesday everyone!

Hope you are ready for a new week, I´m having a busy time with uni, two assessments / presentations due this afternoon, can´t wait to get it done, so I can finally take a day off on Thursday.

I thought I would share different dinner /food recipe´s once a week, give you inspiration or ideas on delicious vegetarian & vegan options. Eating less meat is so important for making a more sustainable world, so making your meat-free meals more interesting and full of flavour and nutrition will make it so much easier for anyone who is not already a vegetarian/vegan, who might need some inspiration on how to adapt cooking with less meat in everyday life.

This week I made a smoked brown rice & lentil stew, with potato chips and spinach.

pa101092 pa101090It is super easy to make and you dont need to many ingredients, just what you see above + your preferred spices & herbs. I used smoked paprika to get that smoky flavour, mustard, himalaya salt and peper. Basil & Parsley.

pa101101 Put the tomato´s, chilli, garlic, lemon, paprika and mustard in the blender, so it turns out to be a sauce/paste.

pa101104 pa101105

Slow cook the mushrooms, herbs and spices, before you add the cooked rice, lentils, tomato sauce and coconut cream.

pa101107 Let it slow cook until your potato´s are crisp enough.

Spring has hit Sydney, with almost 30 degrees yesterday, what a beautiful afternoon we had!

I´ve spent most of my week at uni and in front of my mac, so I needed a break. Jens and I decided to test drive our new scooter bike, and went for a few early afternoon drinks to enjoy the arrival of spring. I love wearing colour, so yesterday was a perfect day for my awesome second-hand green “leather” jacket.

Hi beautiful people

I´ve had a really hectic week so far and its not slowing down until Wednesday next week. I´m in week three of twelve at this trimester, so next week is the first assessment week. There´s a lot of work to be done this term. I´m one step from finishing my Branded Fashion Design degree, so this trimester we are getting a pre-taste of what the last term is going to look like. Currently working on a brand proposal for my label, as we have to develop a brand, both visual and physical. The physical part is having our designs made, with all the appropriate features, industry standards, all though this term we only have to make 1 look. When I´m working on all the visual that has to be done, I need a good study rhythm and a good spot to work.

The days I´m not at uni, I make my kitchen into a study desk, this works great, as I can “build” a standing desk. I concentrate so much better standing up, and also it is so much better for your blod circulation and for your posture and back. Sitting long days on a chair is the worst. If you have not tried the “standing technique” before, it will probably feel a bit odd the first couple of times, but I really encourage you to test it out, and if you get tired, take short breaks of sitting down and doing stretch-exercises. It has made my study hours so much more productive.

Enjoy the rest of your week guys, hopefully you got less things to do!

When you have those moments;”The Big City Life” has gotten to you, and you just need to escape, it is like that sometimes. Sydney is a big city, though the heart of the city is actually not that big. Living here for over 3 years, I think I know the city by heart, I could not get lost anymore. This is one of the many things I like about Sydney, a few other things are; all the amazing beaches and coastal walks we got so close by, all the little suburbs away from the CBD that has great little shops, cafes and parks. A third is the fact that the weather is over all really good, and we still get 4 seasons here, which I love! You can not enjoy sunny days if you never have any rainy and cold once.

Yesterday was one of those “I´m over the city days” so we went out to Watson´s Bay, just enjoyed being in a different area, watch the ocean and the city from a distanse and get some fresh air. Beautiful day.

Hello October!

New month, warmer days, new challenges & new opportunities.

Before getting started on October I was inspired by fellow Femelle blogger Nenna Echem, doing a recap of her top 5 September moments, which is a great way to remind yourself of some good moments that has passed, preparing for new once to arrive.

Hope everyone are ready for what ever October may bring

Ubud has to be experienced, it is just so beautiful

Uni started 3 weeks ago and it is so great to be back feeling really motived this time!

After the holiday I started doing meditation again, a minimum of 5 days a week, I´ve also got back into my really good yoga routines, twice a week.

I AM ENOUGH, how often do you tell yourself that? I for sure do not say it enough, or think it enough. We all struggle to be better, the constant pressure we put on ourself. The constant comparisons we make, everyday. I´ve started watching/reading and listening to really great and inspirational people the last few weeks, it makes you take a step back and look at yourself and see your life from a new angle. I got so much to learn in this life, cause the truth is we never stop learning or growing, today I decided to tell myself every day that I AM ENOUGH. cause it the truth, I am.

Now it is your turn to, tell yourself everyday, no matter if it is a good day or a bad one, YOU ARE ENOUGH!!! cause the more you believe in yourself, the more you will achieve. Write it down, say it out loud, tell other friends to practise the same, be proud of yourself, everyday. Watch this video for some weekend inspiration, to get you motived.

Days are becoming longer, so we are finally getting to enjoy the afternoon sun again, take advantage of a few extra hours of light. Outside exercise, walking in the park and my favourite of them all, going down by the beach when the crowds of people are gone, and just watch the ocean and the colours of the sky slowly change. Those moments are never the same, they are all so magical. It is to easy to take these happenings for granted and forget to enjoy the moments, so next time you are doing something you do every week, or you do once in a while; really enjoy, remind yourself how amazing it is and see it with “new eyes”.

My passion for style and dressing always comes back to thinking sustainable and make conscious choices, still keeping my taste and fashion style the way I love it. My top/dress is a vintage dress, the pearls I bought from a local seller in Bali, skirt has been in my wardrobe for about 6 years and the shoes I recently bought as my boyfriend complained I never wore sneakers.

Cooking is one of many favourite activities, it makes me really relaxed and happy. Most of my diet is a vegan or vegetarian diet, which is really easy and always full of flavour! I really want to share my food lifestyle with you guys, hopefully encouraging more people to pick up on a diet more plant-based, than meat-based. Get inspired. Cook more. Stay healthy, fit and on budget.

Living on a student budget, you cant always go for your first choice, I find it hard to compromise, but it just have to be done. I love pasta, almost to much, so this dish is a simple pasta dish full of flavour, and it is easy to do on a budget. I chose normal pasta this time, as it allows me to buy more veggies on the weekly budget.

Chick Pea – Zesty – Pesto – Pasta

Cut the garlic, the chilli and the broccoli into really small pieces. Drain and clean the chick peas. Cut the tomato´s into small squares, and mix it with a bit of olive oil and the fresh parsley.

Lightly fry the broccoli, chilli, garlic and the chick peas with olive oil. Add the herbs you prefer, I used Italian mixed herbs, himalaya salt and pepper. Last you add the pesto and the lemon. Depending on how much pesto flavour and zest you prefer, add it as you tast.

drizzle some extra olive oil over the pasta, add the cooked ingredients, topping it with the fresh tomato-parsley mix and fresh spinach.
